Questions parents ask
Does my child get their own inbox?
No. Email sent to their address is forwarded to your existing inbox, so you see everything and there's no new app or password to manage.
Can my child send emails from it?
No, the address only receives email. When you reply to something, it comes from your own email address.
Why not just use Gmail?
You can, and plenty of parents do. Two things are different here. The first is the address itself: the good names on the free providers went years ago, so you end up with something like bobby53658@gmail.com, while here your child can simply be bobby@hisdads.com.
The second is that there's no second account to create and manage. A Gmail address means a Google account in your child's name, with a password, a login and a profile attached to it, and Google asks that account holders are at least 13.
Ours is just an address that passes email on to you. There's nothing for your child to sign in to, and nothing for them to be signed in to elsewhere.
What will it cost?
We expect an address to cost around £29 for three years, or £49 for six, paid once with nothing more to pay during the term. Registering your interest is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
What if the name I want is taken?
Each address can only belong to one child, so names go to whoever claims them first. Registering now gives you the best chance. If the name has gone, you could use an initial, like sarah-b, or a nickname they answer to.
What happens to my details?
We only use them to contact you about the launch. If the service doesn't go ahead, we delete them. Our privacy notice has the details.
